Boulder is known for having a plethora of high quality rock climbing. It is home to the scenic Flatirons, the beautiful sandstone walls of Eldorado Canyon and the granite domes of Boulder Canyon. Also, Boulder is conveniently located only one hour from Denver International Airport (DIA).
Climbing in the Flatirons, the most prominent geologic features overlooking the city of Boulder, is truly a memorable experience. The vertical appearance of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Flatirons draws climbers to these slabby, conglomerate 1000′ tall formations. Though they may seem intimidating, the distinct east faces are only about 50 degrees in pitch and offer some of the longest, easy to moderate rock climbing routes in Colorado.
We recommend spending at least a few days in the area, as there are hundreds of high quality routes! It is also nice to mixed up your trip with climbing in both Eldorado and Boulder Canyon as getting a little from each places provides a full breadth of what climbing in Boulder is all about!
